  Today Northern Foods received confirmation from Defra that, in the event that the European Commission (EC) grants a Protected Geographical Indicator (PGI) status for Melton Mowbray Pork Pies (MMPP), the EC would give long-standing manufacturers of MMPPs a five year period from the date of grant to transfer production.
